Easton Young of Augustana men's hockey garnered his first career weekly award as he was named CCHA Defenseman of the Week, announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Young, a freshman defenseman collected three assists in Augustana's 1-0-1 weekend against Michigan Tech. He tallied a multi-point effort in Friday's 5-1 win before he continued his weekend with an assist in Saturday's 4-4 tie.
The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native played 128 games for the Muskegon Lumberjacks over three seasons, scoring 42 points. He also played three years of high school hockey for Grand Rapids, scoring a career-high 50 points in his senior season.
Young has three goals and nine assists for 12 points and is the second-highest-scoring defenseman on the Vikings this season. He is the eighth Viking this season to garner a CCHA weekly award.
Augustana closes out the regular season this weekend on home ice as it hosts Alaska Fairbanks.
