CORALVILLE, Iowa – Augustana hockey captain
Luke Mobley inked an ECHL contract earlier this week with the Iowa Heartlanders of the ECHL, announced via the Heartlanders social media Thursday afternoon.
The St. Louis Park, Minnesota native captained the Vikings in their second season and helped lead them to an 18-13-4 record and a playoff berth in the Mason Cup Playoffs. In his final year, Mobley scored 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points.
Mobley joined the Vikings in their inaugural season and was a part of the program's first-ever leadership group as an assistant captain. He led the Vikings in goals over the past two seasons (12 and 13).
The captain joins the Heartlanders after 159 games in college. Iowa is the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild and the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild. The Heartlanders play in the Western Conference and hold a record of 31-18-6-4.
Mobley will join the team in Rapid City, South Dakota as the Heartlanders are amid a three-game series against the Rapid City Rush. He is expected to make his debut in the lineup during the weekend series.
