INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –
Bryn Greenwaldt added another chapter to her storybook weekend and
David Binsfeld made history to wrap up the final day of the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Greenwaldt set a school record in the prelims with a time of 49.03 to rank second into the final. After becoming an All-American in the high jump in between sessions, Greenwaldt had enough left in the tank to swim a sub-50 second final and earn eighth place. She finishes her weekend a National Championship and a total of five swimming All-America nods.
Just the second male to reach the national stage, Binsfeld comfortably earned a spot into the consolation final with a 417.65 point total to secure his position as the first All-American in men's program history. He closed out the consolation final with 406.60 points to earn 15th.
In the 200 Breast,
Nesrine Jelliti greatly outperformed her seed, coming in as the 32nd ranked competitor. She battled through the preliminary round, finishing 22nd with a program-record 2:18.49.
The final event of the evening was the 400 free relay that saw Augustana place 17th. The team consisting of Greenwaldt,
Sofia Hein,
Makoa Montgomery and
Meesha Montgomery timed in at 3:24.69.
Augustana tallied 125 points over the four days of competition to place 12th. The Vikings entered the meet ranked No. 19 in the nation by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association.
Augustana leaves the championships with eight All-America honors from six individual events and two relays.
