INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Augustana track and field saw a successful final day of action at the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships as three Vikings earned All-America distinction across four events.
Andrew Martens started the day with the men's 60-meter hurdle finals where he lit up the track and sped to third place in 7.89 seconds, securing a First Team All-America honor. The accolade is the newest addition to Martens' resume that includes an NSIC championship and broken Augustana school record in this season alone.
After advancing to the finals off a successful prelim protest,
Ryan Hartman made the most of his mile run bid. He held first place through the first half of the race and proceeded to cross the finish line in a time of 4:01.66. His clocking was commanding enough to claim third place for a First Team All-America recognition.
Following a speedy prelims race at the swimming and diving championships,
Bryn Greenwaldt made a trek across Indianapolis to compete in the high jump. The junior added to her nationally-recognized successful weekend with a personal-best clearance of 5-08.75 to tie for eighth and take home First Team All-America distinction.
Hartman closed his weekend and championship competition for the Vikings in the men's 3000-meter run, clocking an 8:28.86 for 17
th overall in the event and earning an All-America Honorable Mention.
The Vikings return to Sioux Falls with three athletes newly minted as First Team All-Americans with an additional three athletes named All-America Honorable Mention.
Augustana will now turn to prep for the outdoor track and field season, which is currently scheduled to begin at the start of April.
