BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 SHAWNEE, Kan. – Augustana softball ended the weekend on a high note, taking down Northwest Missouri State, 3-1, and Emporia State, 9-1, in the final day of competition at the Top Gun Midwest College Classic.
 
GAME ONE: No. 5 Augustana 3, Northwest Missouri State 1
After fending off a slow start and a 1-0 deficit, AU got the bats going in the latter half of the game to take the 3-1 victory over the Bearcats.
 
NWMSU struck first, plating one run in the bottom of the first inning. That score would remain until the top of the fourth when a single up center field from Ella Cooper brought in Ashton Dorman from second base.
 
The 1-1 tie was broken after another single from Cooper advanced Stella Harber to third and scored Sidney Smart. That lead grew again in the seventh when Desi Cuevas knocked a double to left field, bringing home a runner on first.
 
Cooper, Dorman and Norah Christiansen tallied two hits each in the contest as Andrea Cain and Liz Dierks each drew a walk. Grace Glanzer took the win in the circle, striking out nine batters and allowing just one run.  
 
GAME TWO: No. 5 Augustana 9, Emporia State 1
The Vikings held a steady 5-1 lead over the Hornets following three complete innings, and took firm control at 8-1 after five. Another plated run would secure the 9-1 victory for AU to close the weekend invitational.

Augustana will hit the road to take on Northwest Missouri State in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 9 before another two-game series against Drury on Tuesday, March 11.
