Vikings Set for Wednesday Doubleheader Against SMSU

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 10 Augustana softball will continue its conference road trip with a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader in Marshall, Minn., where the Vikings will take on the Mustangs beginning at 2 p.m.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Following opening conference weekend on home turf that saw splits with both Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State, Southwest Minnesota State holds a 20-10 overall record and a 2-2 NSIC showing.
 
Brynn Webber leads with a slash line of .364/.490/.494 and an OPS of .984. She's tallied a team-high 28 hits with 21 RBI, 18 walks and eight stolen bases. Riley Knamolisch and Emma Humpal follow, each batting .346, while Abby Russell and Jordyn Marsh have each logged a home run.
 
In the circle, Marsh holds a 2.77 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP while holding opponents to a .209 batting average. She's 6-2 on the season and has 57 strikeouts in 52.0 innings pitched. Through a team-high 82.1 innings of work, Karlie Miller sits with 59 strikeouts so far and has a 2.95 ERA and 1.64 WHIP while starting in all 15 of her appearances.
 
SERIES HISTORY
In a series dating back to 2003, Augustana holds the all-time advantage, 39-11. The most recent face-off ended in a 10-2 win for the Vikings at Bowden Field.  
 
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Augustana swept its opening two conference series, taking down MSU Moorhead (10-0, 8-0) and Northern State (1-0, 12-0) over the weekend after splitting with Missouri Western at home last Tuesday.
 
The Vikings are also currently ranked 10th in the NFCA Softball Coaches Poll while Lexi Lander recently earned NSIC Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
Desi Cuevas holds a .416 batting average, 37 hits off 89 at-bats, 24 RBI, 14 stolen bases and eight homeruns. Ashton Dorman is batting .333 with a .877 OPS, 28 hits, 22 RBI, five RBI and two homeruns. Andrea Cain is close behind with a slash line of .333/.476/.877 while adding in 27 hits, 21 RBI, 18 walks, seven doubles and six homers.
 
In 97.2 innings of work, Grace Glanzer has collected 105 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .205 batting average. She's 10-4 in her 14 appearances and maintains a 1.08 ERA—which leads the NSIC—and a .92 WHIP. Lexi Lander is 10-2 on the season in 14 appearances, striking out 67 batters in 63.2 innings with an ERA of 1.32 and opponent batting average of .230.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Augustana will return home to take on St. Cloud State in a Friday afternoon doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. before taking on Minnesota Duluth on Saturday at 12 p.m.
