SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs are coming to Sioux Falls this weekend as second-seeded Augustana hockey plays host to seventh-seeded Bemidji State in a best-of-three quarterfinals series set to begin Friday night.

The best-of-three series kicks off at 7:07 p.m. on Friday with game two on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. If necessary, game three with be on Sunday at 5:07 p.m.
There will be a slew of promotions this weekend that include a white out on Friday with a rally towel giveaway and Saturday will be a navy out with the official 2024-25 hockey poster.

Series History
The two teams have only met four times, and the series is tied at 2-2. Augustana has a slight advantage in goals, outscoring the Beavers 13-12.
The Beavers
Bemidji State finished seventh in the CCHA standings with a 10-12-4 record in conference play for 36 league points. This will be the first time in BSU history that the Beavers enter a postseason tournament as the seventh seed.

The Vikings
Augustana finished second in the CCHA standings with a record of 9-5-2 and compiled a .625 conference winning percentage. The Vikings recorded 48 goals and allowed 37 goals against during conference play. AU finished the season with a 17-11-4 overall record.

The Mason Cup Playoffs
The 2025 CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs begin Friday, March 7th with the top four teams hosting a best-of-three, quarterfinal round series to start the CCHA Playoffs. From there, the two highest remaining seeds host a single elimination semifinal game on Saturday, March 15th. The tournament concludes with the single-game, 2025 CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs Championship, held at the home venue of the top remaining seed on Friday, March 21st. The winner of the Mason Cup Championship will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey tournament.
The famed Mason Cup is named after legendary Lake Superior State, Bowling Green State, and Michigan State coach Ron Mason, whose name appeared on the trophy a league-high 13 times. Mason was instrumental in the establishment and success of the CCHA, helping it grow into one of the most powerful college hockey conferences of all time. The Mason Cup was first awarded 22 years ago in 2002 and is widely recognized as one of the most prized trophies in hockey.
