Viking Softball Begins Road Trip With Doubleheader Against Bearcats

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 7 Augustana softball team begins a busy week of competition with a doubleheader against Northwest Missouri State on Sunday afternoon. Game times are set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
Northwest Missouri State holds a 10-9 record to start the 2025 season after going 2-2 at last weekend's Midwest College Classic.
 
Omara Love leads with a team-best .420 average with 29 hits off 69 at-bats to join her .609 slugging percentage. Skylar Pieper has rung in two home runs with five doubles and 18 RBI as Gaige Pinkerton has collected 10 walks.
 
In the circle, Rien Moore is 5-0 in her nine appearances while holding a 0.60 ERA. She's totaled a team-high 24 strikeouts in her 23.1 innings pitched, holding opponents to a .169 batting average. Olivia Moyer follows close behind with 23 strikeouts in her 27.1 innings of work, but holds a 3.59 ERA.
 
SERIES HISTORY
AU is 11-7 against the Bearcats all-time, most recently going head-to-head at the Midwest College Classic earlier this season. Augustana took the 3-1 victory on Sunday, March 2 behind two hits and two RBI from Ella Cooper alongside a double from Desi Cuevas.
 
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Augustana returns to action following a 5-1 showing at the Midwest College Classic last weekend, collecting victories over Central Missouri, Washburn, Pittsburg State, Northwest Missouri State and Emporia State. The Vikings are 10-4 on the year and are currently rated seventh in the NFCA Softball Coaches Poll.
 
Desi Cuevas has been dominant with a .422 batting average, an .822 slugging percentage, 19 hits off 45 at-bats, 12 RBI, eight stolen bases and five home runs. Andrea Cain adds in three homers with 12 RBI while Ashton Dorman is batting .356 and Ella Cooper boats 12 RBI.
 
Grace Glanzer has collected 52 strikeouts across her 48.2 innings pitched, holding opponents to a .184 batting average. She holds a 1.44 ERA—which ranks second in the NSIC—with a 4-3 record and an .86 WHIP. Additionally, Lexi Lander is 5-1 with a 2.44 ERA and has tallied 31 strikeouts in 28.2 innings of work.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Augustana will continue its Missouri trip with a Tuesday doubleheader against Drury on Tuesday beginning at 12 p.m. before heading to the Spring Break Games in Branson for a four-game slate.
