AUSTIN, Texas – After closing one of the most illustrious careers in Augustana Cross Country and Track and Field history, senior athlete
Ryan Hartman has earned another All-America honor after being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team, officials announced Wednesday.
Hartman completed his degree in Sports Administration and Leadership this past May and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 during his time at Augustana. He is the first Viking in program history—in both cross country and track and field—to be named to the CoSIDA/CSC first team.
On the cross country course, Hartman competed in six different meets and took first place in four of them. The other two meets on the season each resulted in runner-up finishes, including at the NCAA DII Championships. His second-place time at the national championship meet was the highest placing for a Viking in program history as well as the highest finish for an NSIC athlete.
The hot streak continued over on the track in both the indoor and outdoor season for the senior from Wausau, Wisconsin. Hartman collected eight first-place finishes in 11 competed meets across the 2024-25 seasons with six broken school records, five conference titles, three NCAA Championship bids and two First Team All-America finishes.
In his senior season, Hartman collected numerous accolades: three-time NSIC Men's XC Athlete of the Week, three-time NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, two-time USTFCCCA Men's XC National Athlete of the Week, two-time USTFCCCA Men's Track National Athlete of the Week, five-time USTFCCCA All-Region Performer, USTFCCCA Central Region Men's XC Athlete of the Year, NSIC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, NSIC Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track Preseason Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA DII XC National Scholar Athlete of the Year, CSC Academic All-District, NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and NSIC Honor Student Athlete.
