Josh Kotai has been named the CCHA Goalie of the Month for January, the league announced Tuesday. It marks the second time this season Kotai has earned the honor after also being recognized in October.
Kotai anchored the Vikings through a dominant January stretch, posting a 6-1-0 record in seven starts with a 1.28 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage. He stopped 188 shots over 422:38 of action and recorded three shutouts during the month.
The Abbotsford, British Columbia native opened January with back-to-back shutouts at Northern Michigan, making 18 saves in a 3-0 win on Jan. 9 before turning aside 27 shots in a 2-0 victory the following night. He added another clean sheet at home against Ferris State on Jan. 16, stopping all 22 shots in a 4-0 decision.
