HOLLAND, Mich. – The Augustana men's swimming and diving team continued action at the GLIAC Championships Friday, breaking four more records and hanging in seventh with 203.5 points.
In the 3m dive,
David Binsfeld found himself in the B-Final. There, he outperformed the field by finishing ninth and earning 484.15 points to eclipse a program record and DII B Standard mark.
In the 800 free relay
Theo Tuunelis,
Isaac Rokusek,
Collin Wilcynski and
Juan Moncada claimed the top time in program history, teaming up to a tune of 6:44.87, earning 24 points and placing seventh. Tuunelis also earned a 200 free record with his split time of 1:39.22.
The final record to fall was in a 200 medley relay time trial when
Ethan Kinney,
Mason Ward-Zeller,
Peyton Bartsch and
Noah Mooney combined to swim in 1:28.33.
Simeon Stanoev had a big morning as he earned a spot in the A-Final of the 100 Breast. In the final, Stanoev narrowly missed out on a DII B Standard, but still placed sixth with a time of 55.37 in the final to earn 14 points. Three other Vikings earned points in the B-Finals as Ward-Zeller,
Noah Mayer and
Owen Bartee placed 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively.
In the 200 Fly, two Vikings earned spots in the B-Final. It was
Juan Moncada whose time of 1:51.60 earned him the 11th spot. Just behind him was
Brad Infield, whose 1:52.90 earned him 12th. The two combined to add 11 points to the total.
The team is back in action Monday with prelims for the final day starting at 9 a.m. The finals each night begin at 4:30 p.m. in Holland, Michigan.
