HOLLAND, Mich. – One record fell and another qualifying mark was hit as the Augustana men's swimming and diving team closed action at the GLIAC Championships Monday. The team finished the meet in seventh place with 262.5 points.
Across four days, the Vikings had a banner weekend. In all, 54 performances earned top-10 placements in program history. Among those, 12 were program records and 73 events saw personal-best times.
The lone record to fall on Sunday was in the 400 free relay. The team of
Isaac Rokusek,
Theo Tuunelis,
Juan Moncada and
Peyton Bartsch delivered a stellar performance, placing sixth and finishing with a time of 3:02.31 to earn 26 team points.
In the 100 Free,
Peyton Bartsch zoomed through the preliminary race, hitting a DII B-Standard time of 45.17 while just missing out on a spot in the final.
Noah Mooney had himself a day in the 200 Back. He claimed the final spot in the A-Final with a 1:49.53 prelim time. In the final, the sophomore beat his prelim time with a 1:48.22, slotting him in sixth for 13 team points. In the B-Final,
Lincoln Ahrendt also outperformed his prelim time to place 11th with a time of 1:51.98.
A pair of Vikings earned spots in the B-Final in the 200 Breast.
Mason Ward-Zeller placed 11th with a time of 2:02.95 after just missing out on the A-Final.
Noah Mayer added team points with a 13th-place finish when he finished in 2:03.60.
Sy Pizzolato earned points for the Vikings in the 1650 Free to open the final session. His time of 16:09.93 was good enough for 14th place to add three points to the AU total.
The team will await NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships selections to see who will head to Indianapolis, Indiana, March 11-15.
