Men’s Hockey Set to Host Bemidji State in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Third-seeded Augustana men's hockey returns to Midco Arena this weekend as it hosts sixth-seeded Bemidji State in the Mason Cup Quarterfinals.

The best-of-three series kicks off at 7:07 p.m. on Friday with game two on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. If necessary, game three will be on Sunday at 5:07 p.m.

The Beavers
Bemidji State enters the postseason as the sixth seed after it finished with a conference record of 11-11-4 for 36 league points. The Beavers hold an overall record of 13-17-4 and have scored a total of 95 goals. 

Oliver Peer leads the charge for BSU with a total of 33 points by way of 19 goals and 14 assists. Kasper Magnussen and Adam Flammang have added scoring depth with 28 points each. Netminder, Max Hildebrand, has manned the pipes in 22 games this season and holds a goals against average of 2.72 with a .896 save percentage. 

The Vikings
Third-seeded No. 14/15 Augustana enters the postseason with a mark of 20-10-4 and a conference record of 14-8-3. The Vikings recorded their first-ever 20-win season with its 4-0 win over St. Thomas on February 21. 

Brett Meerman leads the charge for Augustana with a team-high 27 points. The junior forward also leads the team with seven power-play goals and shares the team lead with four game-winning goals.

Josh Kotai has anchored Augustana in goal this season, posting an 18-10-4 record in 32 appearances. He holds a .936 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average, ranking among the top goaltenders in the CCHA. Kotai has also recorded five shutouts on the season. He was named CCHA Goalie of the Week four times this season and CCHA Goalie of the Month twice.
