Augustana Celebrity Party in Support of Augustana Student-Athlete Scholarships

The Augustana Celebrity Party is an annual event that features a celebrity guest and a dinner. During the event, guests can expect to participate in a meet-and-greet session and have their picture taken with the celebrity guest. Also a part of the event, Jeff Fylling, the "Voice of the Vikings," conducts a question and answer session with the guest. The event benefits Augustana Athletics and its 19 varsity sports.

Augustana University Athletics will hold the Fourth Annual Celebrity Party on Thursday, June 2, at CJ Callaway's. This year's celebrity guest will be the University of Nebraska head men's basketball coach and Doland, South Dakota native, Tim Miles. 

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. The program will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. The evening will offer an opportunity to hear from one of the most successful college basketball coaches at all levels while bringing support to athletic scholarships at Augustana. 

Miles, who is entering his fifth season at Nebraska, is the only active coach who has taken teams to the postseason at the Division I, II and NAIA ranks. In just his second season with the Huskers in 2013-14, Miles was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year after leading his team to the NCAA Tournament, ending a 16-year drought for Nebraska. Miles has helped ignite the Husker men’s basketball fan base in just four seasons. Nebraska men’s basketball established a school record attendance of 15,569 fans per game in 2014-15 which ranked 10th nationally.  
 
He got his start in coaching spending six seasons as an assistant at Northern State from 1989-90 through 1994-95 and helped the Wolves to five NAIA playoff appearances and five regional titles. Miles began his head coaching career at Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota in 1995 before spending four seasons at Southwest Minnesota State University from 1997-2001. Miles then took over at North Dakota State University and led the program into its transition to Division I. He was named the head coach at Colorado State University in 2007 and spent five seasons at CSU turning the Rams into a contender in the Mountain West Conference. He increased CSU’s win total in each of his five seasons, leading the Rams to a 20-12 record and the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in nine years during his last season in 2012.
