LAKE CITY, Minn. - Augustana University men's golf completed the second round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship Tuesday, shooting a 22-over-par 295. They ended the first two rounds of the Championship shooting a 36-over-par 604 at the par-71, 6,669 yard The Jewel in Lake City, Minn.
The highlight of the second round came from sophomore
Parker Klitzke who made a hole-in-one on the par-3, 200 yard 11th hole. Klitzke led the Vikings shooting a 1-over-par 72 on Tuesday and is shooting 5-over-par 147 for the first two rounds of the Championship event. Klitzke ends the first two rounds tied for seventh.
Minnesota State leads the 10-team field after two rounds with a 15-over-par 583. They are followed by Winona State (589), St. Cloud State (596), Upper Iowa (602). Bemidji State rounds out the top-5 after shooting a two round total of 603.
There is a four-way tie atop the leaderboard, with each student-athlete shooting a 2-over-par 144. The four sitting atop the leaderboard are Upper Iowa's Curtis Cooksley, Winona State's Jonathan Lindquist, St. Cloud's Troy Ryynanen and Minnesota State's Kelton Schmitz.
Sophomore
Ted Urch shot a 1-over-par 72 and a 6-over-par 148 for the first two rounds. Urch ends the first two rounds tied for 11th. Junior
Collin Hammer shot a 4-over-par 75, while senior
Clay Kopplin shot a 6-over-par 77. After two rounds both Hammer and Kopplin are shooting 13-over-par 155, and tied for 27th. Rounding out the top-five for the Vikings is sophomore
Jake Weber. Weber shot a 5-over-par 76 for the second round with a two round total of 14-over-par 156, good for a share of 31st.
The first two rounds of the championship were played at the par-71, 6,669-yard The Jewel in lake City, Minn. while the final two rounds will be played in Smithville, Mo. at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex April 9-10, 2016.
