SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 20 Augustana volleyball is set to host the Mavericks of Minnesota State Friday night, followed by a top-25 clash on senior day against the No. 1 ranked Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul Saturday afternoon.
This will be the second meeting between each of the two programs this season. Augustana suffered a heartbreaking five-set loss to Concordia-St. Paul back on Oct. 2 and then fell in four-sets to Minnesota State the following night.
The Vikings remained in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 this week, staying put at number 20. This marks the Vikings 200th total week that they have been ranked in the AVCA Top-25. It is currently the 13th longest active streak in Division II and the second longest streak in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
These next two weeks will consist of four, very important matches for Augustana due the log jam of teams vying for a spot in the NSIC Tournament set to begin on Nov. 18. There are currently three teams tied for the sixth, seventh and eighth spots in the NSIC Standings with a 9-7 conference record, Augustana, Winona State and Minnesota State. Upper Iowa currently sits in in ninth place with an 8-8 conference record. The Vikings will hold their tournament fate in their hands with matches against Minnesota State and Upper Iowa in these final four matches.
The first serve against Minnesota State is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday with senior day against No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul set to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday. You can follow the action live via Twitter
