STORM LAKE, Iowa - After a frustrating start to the season, Augustana men's tennis earned their third straight victory of the season, defeating Grand View 7-2 and Buena Vista 9-0 on Saturday. The Vikings improve to 5-4 on the season after their 2-0 performance.
Augustana 7, Grand View 2Augustana earned their second consecutive win in convincing fashion, an 7-2 defeat over Grand View in the 2 p.m. match. The Vikings opened with two victories at the doubles match to start the day.
Jared Hofer and
Collin Noldner downed GVU's top doubles squad 9-7. Grand View's No. 2 doubles squad defeated Zack Adkins and
Jackson Buchanan by a score of 8-6.
Reed Ritterbusch and
Colan Surratt battled at the No. 3 doubles spot winning 8-6.
Hofer was the only Vikings to lose at the singles spot, falling 6-0, 6-4 to the lone undefeated GVU at No. 1 singles. Noldner then answered in three-sets with a 3-6, 6-0 and 10-8 win at No. 2 singles.
Zach Adkins posted a 1-6, 6-2 and 16-14 win in the third singles flight.
Jackson Buchanan rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles and
Reed Ritterbusch registered a 6-4, 6-2 win in the fifth singles flight. Surratt put the finishing touches on Augustana's rout with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Augustana 9, Buena Vista 0Augustana collected their third consecutive win with a shoutout victory of 9-0 in the second leg of their Saturday doubleheader sweeping the Beavers to improve to 5-4 on the season.
Hofer and Noldner collected a 9-8 win at the top doubles spot. Adkins and Buchanan played No. 2 and won 8-5, following by Baade and
Trae Olson powering past the No. 3 singles with a 8-3 win.
Hofer got back to his winning ways with a 6-4, 6-0 victory, playing No. 1 singles for the Vikings. Noldner tallied his second singles win of the day, a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Adkins took the third flight singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-3, followed by Buchanan dominating the No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
Ritterbusch equaled his teammates' winning efforts, coming away with three-set victory of 3-6, 6-0, and 10-3 win at No. 5 and Surratt closed the door on the Beavers at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.
The Vikings will be back in action traveling to Palmas Del Mar, Puerto Rico for their spring break trip facing off first with Babson College on March 16. First serve will start at 8:30 a.m.
