ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Augustana College track and field had a strong showing on the second day of the Red Raider Open with six Vikings winning events on Saturday.
"The meet was a good stepping stone towards the end of the season," head coach
Tracy Hellman said. "We are looking forward to great future competition."
Carina Hofmeister highlighted Augustana's day with a first place finish in the 100-meter dash clocking a time of 12.09 to tie the current school record.
Anne Parsley took fourth with a time of 12.47 and
Charissa Etrheim took sixth clocking a time of 12.51
Irene Almarcha tabbed first in the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 14.18. Teammates
Calliann Brunswig (14.98) and
Valerie Moos (15.55) finished third and fifth, respectively.
Leah Seivert and
Kaitlyn Yoerg headlined the women's 1,500-meter run. Freshman Seivert took the top mark clocking a time of 4:47.86, while senior Yoerg took second finishing with a time of 4:50.22.
In the men's 1,500-meter run,
Harald Karbo was the top Viking to finish taking third with a time of 4:09.21.
Paul Yak took fifth with a time of 4:12.26, while
Keegan Carda took seventh with a time of 4:13.09.
Three Vikings took the top spots in the women's 200-meter dash. Leading the way for Augustana was once again Hofmeister clocking a time of 24.80, followed by Almarcha taking second (25.43) and Parsley placing third (25.46).
Emma Schmidt took fifth in the women's 400-meter dash clocking a time of 1:01.78.
Chris Sharpe also took fifth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 51.62.
Once again,
Emma Anderson showed off in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.28 for a runner-up finish. Yoerg took ninth place with a time of 2:29.31.
Ryan Heuer took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.79-second mark,
Dylon Van't Hof took fourth with a time of 15.03.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Van't Hof took third with a time of 57.96, while
Zach Jones took seventh with a time of 59:24.
Kayla Mescher took the top mark in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.56, while Moos took second with a time of 1:07.25.
Anthony Huber took ninth place in the men's discus throw with a heave of 43.14 meters (141 feet, 6 inches).
Mason Ford took the top mark in the men's high jump with a personal-best clearance of 2.01 meters (6 feet, 7 inches).
Josh Reider took sixth in the men's triple jump clearing 11.92 meters (39 feet, 1.25 inches).
In the women's triple jump,
Kaylynn Erlandson took a runner-up finish with a clearance of 11.35 meters (37 feet, 3 inches).
Coley Stoller took fifth after clearing 11.06 meters (36 feet, 3.50 inches).
Brunswig placed second in the women's long jump with a clearance of 5.57 meters (18 feet, 3.25 inches). To close out the day, the men's 4x400 meter relay squad of Sharpe,
Khor Kong,
Thomas Sittig, and
Jeremy Botzet clocked a time of 3:28.67 to take sixth-place.
Augustana will send a group of athletes to the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa and the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. next weekend.
