YANKTON, S.D. – The Augustana track and field team started their busy week off by sending a group of athletes to the Mount Marty Twilight where eight athletes finished in the top-five of their respective events.
In the 400-meter dash,
Emma Schmidt clocked a time of 1:00.49 to take third-place while teammate
Karen Josendahl followed behind Schmidt finishing with a time of 1:01.09 to place fourth overall.
Carly Bauer placed fourth by setting a new personal-best record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:58.94.
Emma Anderson and
Kaitlyn Yoerg both ran a season-best in the women's 800-meter run. Anderson clocked a time of 2:14.61 while Yoerg finished with a time of 2:15.25 to place first and second, respectively.
In the men 400-meter hurdles,
Zach Jones took second clocking a time of 55.89. Three Vikings placed in the top 10 of the men's 800-meter run.
Zach Tuschen placed seventh with a time of 1:55.69, while
Austin Krohnke (1:55.81) and
Chance Freese (1:56.50) placed eighth and ninth, respectively.
Thomas Sittig started his day off with a sixth place finish in the 100-meter dash clocking a time of 11.25, followed by earning a time of 22.70 in the 200-meter dash to take eighth.
In the men's discus throw,
Anthony Huber finished 12th with a heave of 42.39 meters (139 feet, 1 inch)
Coley Stoller finished fourth in the women's triple jump with a personal-best leap of 11.20 meters (36 feet, 9 inches).
Mason Ford took second in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.96 meters (6 feet, 5 inches)
The Vikings will continue their busy week tomorrow when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays.
