SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Augustana University cross country team prepares for the fifth annual Augustana Twilight meet at Yankton Trail Park on Friday Sept. 4.
The women are scheduled to run at 8:30 p.m., followed by the men at 9 p.m.
The Vikings welcome 24 collegiate men and women cross country team's from across the midwest, including last year's men's team champion, The University of Nebraska.
Highlighting the men's team will be Harold Karbo. Karbo, a senior, was named the 2015 NSIC Preseason Athlete of the Year, for the second year in a row.
Returning All-Americans
Nathan Hauge,
Glen Ellingson,
John Klecker,
Nick Larsen and
Keegan Carda round out a deep unit for the Vikings.
Returning for the women are sophomores All-Americans
Annie Kruse and
Leah Seivert. Seivert and Kruse in last year's Twilight ran Unattached and placed eighth and ninth with Seivert finished with a time of 17:07.22 and Kruse with a time of 17:07.31.
Also running for the women will be junior
Cassidy Soli who finished 25th in last years race with a time of 17:27.61.
Augustana will welcome 31 high schools from across the midwest, with races starting at 7:30 p.m.
"What we are trying to make here not just a cross country meet but more as an event." Augustana Head Coach
Tracy Hellman said. "We are trying to make it more festive, we have lights, music, and food trucks. What we try to accomplish is getting the average person to come and watch this event."
