SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana University senior baseball student-athlete
Alex Fink has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team. The announcement was made by the national organization on Thursday.
The Academic All-America teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Fink becomes the sixth member of the Augustana baseball team to be selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, the first since Gates Cook earned third team honors in 2011.
In his senior season Fink became Augustana's all-time leader in career hits with 285, career doubles leader with 66 and the career RBIs leader with 214. During his senior campaign Fink earned 84 hits, 31 doubles, one triple, eight home runs and drove in a team high 73 runs. His 31 doubles tied for the most in Division II. He is a three-time Academic All-NSIC selection and graduated with a 3.66 grade-point-average as a physical education major at Augustana.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
