SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's basketball team continues its homestand when the Vikings host William Penn Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Elmen Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Vikings (1-0) won their season-opener on Monday, 72-57, defeating Truman State at the Elmen Center. William Penn, an NAIA school and a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference, is 4-2 on the season. In their last appearance, the Statesman took down Haskell Indian Nations 55-47.
Balanced scoring led Augustana past Truman State in their home-opener Monday, led by junior
Shelby Selland's game-high 17 points.
Logan O'Farrell added 14 points for the Vikings on a night where nine different players scored. Selland also corralled a career-high 12 rebounds.
William Penn is led by 5-11 forward Vashti Nwagbaraocha. The junior from Milwaukee, Wis. leads the Statesman in scoring, averaging nearly 14 points in her six games this season. Sarah Hansen is second on the team in scoring. The 5-5 guard from Kewanee, Ill. is averaging 13 points per game.
William Penn averages just over 60 points per game so far this season on 40 percent shooting from the field.
The Vikings are 2-0 all-time when facing the Statesman. This will be the first matchup between the two schools since 2010, a game where Augustana won 103-60 at the Elmen Center.
