12/28/2017 11:54:00 AM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After a nine day holiday break, the No. 14 Augustana women's basketball team looks to continue their undefeated season when the Vikings hit the road to take on Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 30 and Sioux Falls on Dec. 31. Saturday's contest tips off at 4 p.m. while Sunday's game tips off at 2 p.m.

Augustana (10-0, 6-0 NSIC) looks to tie the 1996-97 Viking squad for the best start in program history with an 11-0 record.

SMSU enters Saturday's matchup on a four game skid and holds 2-7 record overall and is 1-5 in conference play. USF owns an 8-2 record with a 5-1 record in conference play and ended their pre-holiday break schedule on a two game win streak.

Augustana is led by reigning NSIC South Player of the Week in Logan O'Farrell. O'Farrell, a senior from Summit, S.D. is averaging 14 points and six rebounds a game and is coming of a performance in which she poured in 21 points and snagged 10 rebounds.

O'Farrell, Shelby Selland (12.5), Presley O'Farrell (12.3) and Paige Peterson (11.7) are each averaging over 10 points a performance on the season and are a big reason why the Vikings lead the NSIC with 84 points-per-game, a mark that ranks seventh nationally.

Augustana is thriving on the defensive side of the ball as well, allowing opponents to score just 61 points and forcing almost 13 turnovers a contest. Logan O'Farrell leads the conference and is second nationally with 4.3 steals-per-game.

The Mustangs average 59.9 points a night and give up on average 71.7 points a contest. SMSU is led by sophomore forward Caleigh Rodning. The Shakopee, Minn. native averages 11 points and 8.5 rebounds a game. Southwest Minnesota State averages 35 percent from the field and 29 percent from deep.

The Cougars are averaging 68 points a game and allow 58 points on average. Sioux Falls shoots 38 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep. Kaely Hummel, a sophomore from Cherokee, Iowa, is one of three Cougars who are averaging over 10 points a contest and leads the team averaging 15.9 points-per-game. Jacey Huinker, a junior from Altoona, Iowa is the teams' leading rebounder, averaging just over 10 boards a game.

The Vikings hold a 23-9 all-time record vs. SMSU and have won their last five in a row against the Mustangs. Augustana defeated Southwest Minnesota State last season 68-57 in Marshall, Minn.

Augie has a 30-8 advantage over USF and won last year's battle 74-72 in overtime.
