MANKATO, Minn. – The Augustana track and field team has concluded the first leg of the NSIC Indoor Championships with the completion of the heptathlon on Monday afternoon.
Peter Schukking and
Alex Woods finished 11th and 12th in the heptathlon, respectively.
Schukking finished with 4,309 points, while Woods finished with 4,229 points with each setting personal bests in the heptathlon. Schukking had personal records in the 60-meter dash, the long jump and the 1,000-meters and Woods had five personal bests in the seven events.
In the 60-meters dash, Woods finished seventh with a personal best time of 7.30 and Schukking took 15th with a personal record time of 7.65. In the long jump, Schukking and Woods each hit PRs finishing fourth and 12th respectively.
In the shot put, Schukking took third with a toss of 38-05.5 and Woods finished in ninth with a personal best throw of 34-06.25. In the high jump, Woods and Schukking took 12th and 13th, respectively, to conclude action on day one.
On day two, Woods hit a personal best and finished 13th in the 60-meter hurdles, while Schukking finished in 17th. In the pole vault, Schukking finished in 14th and Woods finished in 16th with a personal best mark.
To conclude the heptathlon, Schukking hit a personal record time in the 1,000-meters finishing in ninth and Woods finished in 11th.
Wayne State's Robert Sullivan won the NSIC Indoor Heptathlon crown with 5,141 points. The top nine finishers all hit the NCAA provisional mark for the heptathlon.
The Vikings will compete in their final meet of the regular season returning to Brookings, S.D. for the SDSU Last Chance on Friday, 17.
