SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana baseball fell to St. Cloud State 10-4 in game one before dropping an 11 inning heartbreaker in game two, 5-4. With the Vikings two defeats on Wednesday, Augustana and St. Cloud State are tied for second in the NSIC standings.
Game One
Augustana put the game's first run on the scoreboard in the first inning. After the first two hitters were retired in order,
Patrick O'Donnell sent a shot to deep left field for a home run, giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead.
After St. Cloud State took a 2-1 lead in the second, the Vikings tied the game at two in the third.
Carter Wevik earned a sac fly to left scored
Ryan Menssen who led of the inning with a double down the left field line.
SCSU regained the lead in the third scoring one before scoring five runs in the fourth and two in the fifth. Augustana scored two more runs in the top of the seventh but it wasn't enough as the Vikings fell to the Huskies 10-2 in game one.

Game Two
The final game of the Vikings midweek doubleheader at St. Cloud State started off slow. The Vikings didn't get a baserunner until the third inning and didn't get their first hit until the fourth inning. The Vikings first hit was a double by O'Donnell. After advancing to third on a
Kris Ashland Single, O'Donnell was driven in by
Tyler Field on a sacrifice bunt.
The Vikings held onto the one run advantage until the seventh inning when the Huskies scored two to take the lead. In the ninth Augustana got a lead off walk from Ashland and
Jacob James came into pinch run. After the leadoff walk, Field executed a sac bunt to move James to second. With two outs
Lucas Barry hit a single up the middle to score James and tie the game at two. The Vikings and Huskies went into extra innings after
Collin Lovell retired St. Cloud in order.
After no score in the 10th inning, Augustana scored two runs in the top of the 11th. The Vikings first run came on a sac fly from
Zach Reeg scoring James. The second run was driven in by Menssen who singled scoring Barry from second.
In the bottom half of the 11th inning four walks, an error, and a wild pitch doomed Augustana as SCSU scored three runs on zero hits to take game two 5-4.
