SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana track and field team enters the full swing of the 2018 indoor season beginning on Friday. The Vikings head to Mankato, Minn. for the Mankato Alumni Open on Friday, Jan. 12 to begin the calendar year.
The Mankato Alumni Open will be contested at the Myers Field House with field events beginning at 3 p.m. and running events starting at 4 p.m.
Last Meet
Augustana opened the indoor season on Dec. 1 at the SDSU Preseason Open in Brookings, S.D. and freshman
Callie DeWitt introduced herself to Division II track and field. DeWitt went on to have top-five finishes in three events and break a school record in her first collegiate race. DeWitt set the school record in the 60-meter preliminaires (7.75) and took fifth in the finals. DeWitt also took fourth in both the 200-meters and the long jump.
In other field events, senior
Anthony Huber finished in seventh in the weight throw with a personal best and provisionally qualifying mark of 17.77-meters. Freshman
Kendra Ludeman went 1.55-meters in the high jump to take fifth in her collegiate debut.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Augustana finished with four top-eight finishers in the men's and women's races. On the men's side,
Paul Meloche took third and
Dylon Van't Hof finished in sixth. On the women's side,
Valerie Gildemaster recorded a personal best (8.88) and took fourth and Selin Dikman placed in seventh.
