BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana University women's basketball, the winners of 29 games last season, has been picked to finish fourth overall in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason coaches poll, the league office announced Thursday afternoon. Augustana won the 2018 NSIC Tournament title, advanced to the NCAA sweet sixteen, and finished the season with an astonishing 29-4 (19-3 NSIC) record, stacking up the most wins in program history.

In addition, the conference named senior Shelby Selland as the Player to Watch for the Vikings. A 6'2" center from Letcher, S.D., Selland started in 32 of Augustana's 33 games last year. Selland averaged 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Vikings. Selland scored a season-high 18 points on three different occasions, with the last time being vs. Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 10, 2018 and in that same game she corralled a season-high 12 rebounds. The Vikings also return senior guard Lynsey Prosser, who finished the season averaging 7.8 points per game totaling her at 258 points in the season.

Thanks in part to their impressive numbers, the duo helped Augustana win a share of the regular season NSIC championship for the first time in program history and their second ever NSIC Tournament Championship.

Overall, the Vikings return 13 players including including seven upperclassmen. They'll start the season with four newcomers on their roster.

The Vikings tip off their season with their first game on Nov. 9 at the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City against Washburn at 5:30 p.m.

Fans can also look forward to Augie Basketball Madness on Thursday, Oct. 25th in the Elmen Center. Free to the public, the event will be televised live on Midco SN, and includes scrimmages, free food, giveaways and more.
