MOORHEAD, MINN.-- Competing on the road for the third straight week, the Augustana wrestling team traveled to Moorhead, Minn. Saturday for the Finn Grinaker Open. Overall, 16 of the 18 Vikings participating placed.
The Vikings had four champions including
Colin Ayers (157lbs),
Jack Huffman (unattached 133lbs),
Kolby Kost (unattached 174lbs), and
Steven Hajas (unattached 285lbs). The two second place finishers for the Vikings were
Brandon Carroll (unattached 133lbs) and
Jackson Sweeney (165lbs). Â Augustana's third-place finishers were
Ethan Cota (125lbs),
Jebben Keyes (141lbs), and
Clayton Wahlstrom (197lbs). The three fourth-place finishers for the Vikings were
Dylan Schuck (165lbs),
Matt Naig (285lbs), and
Jacob Tvinnereim (unattached 157lbs).
Noah North (149 lbs) finished fifth and
Taylor Jeffries (unattached 133lbs),
Daniel Bishop (184lbs), and
Jarret Haglund (unattached 285lbs) all finished sixth in their weight classes.
Augustana was led by redshirt senior
Colin Ayers who went 5-0 on the day to take first at 157 pounds. Ayers picked up three major decisions on his way to the title match where he defeated Northern State's Walker Carr by decision (8-3).
Freshman
Jack Huffman went 4-0 at 133 pounds, picking up a fall and three decisions in the championship effort. Another freshman,
Kolby Kost went 5-0 in an impressive showing picking up a major decision by way of two falls, and two tech falls including one in the championship match.
Steven Hajas went 3-0 on the day at 285 pounds. The freshman used a major decision and a fall to reach the title match where he defeated Northland C&T's Andre Baguma in a 6-0 decision.
Junior
Brandon Carroll went 2-1 on the day to finish second at 133 pounds. Redshirt sophomore
Jackson Sweeney got wins in two close matches to earn his way to the 165-pound championship match where he would fall to Devin Donovan of St. Cloud State in a 5-2 decision.

Ethan Cota finished 2-2 on the day to take third at 125 pounds. Redshirt sophomore
Jebben Keyes had a 3-1 afternoon at 141, pounds pinning two opponents en route to a third-place finish. At 197 pounds, redshirt senior
Clayton Wahlstrom finished the day 3-2 with two major decision victories in his third-place finish.

Noah North's 2-2 day was good for a fifth-place finish at 149 pounds.

The Vikings will have next weekend off for Thanksgiving and resume their open schedule Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open in Kenosha, Wis. The all-day event will begin at 9 a.m.
