SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Coming off a pair conference road wins over Winona State and Upper Iowa this past weekend, the Augustana women's basketball has made a big move nationally, jumping 10 spots to No. 14 in the most recent D2SIDA/NCAA national poll. The 10-spot increase was the largest change in this week's rankings.
The No. 14 Vikings (10-1, 3-1 NSIC) have opened their season strong - their most recent wins over Winona State and Upper Iowa extended the Vikings win streak to five straight.
For the third straight week Union (Tenn.) finds themselves at the top of the national poll. The Bulldogs 9-0 start to their season grabbed them 14 first place votes and 392 points.
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its fifth year of existence. The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll.
After a weekend on the road, the Vikings now return to the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday and Sunday. The Vikings take on the Golden Eagles of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and the Beavers of Bemidji State at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
