SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Following a strong start to the 2018-19 season, the Augustana women's basketball team has made its way into the nation's top-25 poll. The Vikings received 30 points, and currently sit No. 24 in the most recent D2SIDA national poll.
The Vikings opened the 2018-19 season with an 8-1 record, including a 83-71 win over Wayne State last Saturday. The Vikings one loss this season came from Central Oklahoma, who sits in the middle of the pack at no. 15.
At the top of the poll is Union (Tenn.). The 7-0 start to their season grabbed them a first place seed and 393 points with 11 first place votes.
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its fifth year of existence. The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
The Vikings return to NSIC play Friday at Winona State and again on Saturday at Upper Iowa.
