BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Augustana track and field team was led by a quartet of freshmen on Friday at the SDSU Last Chance in Brookings, S.D. Four freshmen took won events and 29 Vikings earned top-five finishes at the meet.
In the women's 600-meters,
Jenna Pavich won the event with a personal best time of 1:41.20.
Brooke DeVos took second with a season's best time of 1:41.82 and
Kali Ryan finished in fourth with a personal best time of 1:43.05.
Callie DeWitt took first in the 60-meters and second in the long jump on Friday. DeWitt raced to a time of 7.68 in the 60-meter finals and recorded a personal best jump of 5.58-meters in the long jump.
Alaina Klapperich took third and
Sara Heyn finished in sixth in the 60-meters. In the men's 60-meter finals,
Riley Crawford (7.20) took fourth and
Josh Reider (7.26) placed in fifth, each setting personal records.
In the women's high jump,
Kendra Ludeman took home the top spot with a mark of 1.60-meters. In the men's high jump,
Eli Anderson took fourth with a personal best leap of 1.93-meters.
In the women's 3000-meters,
Claire Boersma led the way as five Vikings placed in the top-six. Boersma,
Alana Sesow (second),
Courtney Hottovy (third) and
Paige Sunstrom (fifth) each set personal bests in the event and
Rachel Rairdon finished in sixth. In the men's 3000-meters,
Skylar DeJong (second) and
Alec Kray (third) set personal records and
Sean Heaton placed in fifth.
In mid distance races,
Alex Woods (second) and
Blake Savey (third) set personal bests in the men's 400-meters. In the women's 400-meters,
Sydney Mudgett took fourth with a personal record time.
Avery Selberg took fifth in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:21.88.
Nick Reiffenberger finished in second in the men's 1000-meters.
In field events,
Anthony Huber took fifth in both the shot put and the weight throw. In the pole vault,
Lily Noble took fourth on the women's side and
Matt Pohlmann took fifth in the men's event. Reider set a personal best in the triple jump in a fourth place finish with a mark of 12.69-meters.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ellie Rew took third in the women's race with a time of 9.23 and
Evan Ward took fifth in the men's race with a time of 8.57.
Women's DMR Hits Provisional Mark in Mankato; Men Take Third in Spearfish
Augustana sent a team to Mankato, Minn. to compete in the women's Distance Medley Relay and they did not disappoint. The team of
Carly Rahn,
Valerie Gildemaster,
Cassidy Soli and
Emily Tromp won the event with the eighth fastest time in Division II with a converted time of 11:44.01.
The men's DMR team of
Zach Tuschen,
Ryan Stiles,
Josh Barrows and
Austin Miller took third in the event in Spearfish, S.D. with a time of 10:12.28. Their time converts to 16th in Division II.
Next Time Out
The Vikings will begin its postseason run next weekend at the NSIC Championships in Mankato, Minn. on Feb. 23-24.
