SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- For the third time this season, the 12th-ranked Augustana women's basketball team and the Minnesota State Mavericks will square off. However this time, the winner of the contest between the top-seeding Vikings and the fifth-seeding Mavericks advances to the NSIC Tournament's semifinal round. Augustana and Minnesota State hit the hardwood Sunday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. inside the Sanford Pentagon.
Augie enters the matchup with a 24-3 record after cruising past Bemidji State, 94-57, in the opening round of the conference tournament from the Elmen Center. Minnesota State went on the road and defeated Minnesota Duluth, 65-59, in their opening round tournament game and improves their record to 13-16 overall.
Claire Ziegler, Claire Jordan and Taylor Klug all average 10-plus points per game for the Mavs. Ziegler leads the team with 12.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest and shoots 48.2 percent from the field. Minnesota State averages 66.2 points a contest and shoots 38.4 percent from the field and 31 percent from downtown.
Logan O'Farrell,
Presley O'Farrell and
Shelby Selland are the leading scores for the Vikings. Logan pours in 13.5 points a game, while Presley and Selland drop just over 11 points a contest. As a team, Augustana shoots 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from long range. The Vikings average 81 points per game and have a scoring margin of 19.4. Both marks lead the NSIC.
