INDIANAPOLIS -- After garnering a three-way share of the NSIC regular season title last week and conquering the conference tournament championship Tuesday night, the Augustana women's basketball team moved up two spots to No. 3 in the central region, the NCAA national office announced Wednesday.

The 64-45 win over Winona State for the NSIC conference crown guarantees the No. 10 Vikings an automatic berth in the NCAA D-II National Tournament and exerted them to their current 27-3 record.

Central Missouri is the top team in the central region, followed by Southwest Oklahoma State at No. 2. Northern State (4) and Pittsburg State (5) round out the top-five. NSIC foe MSU Moorhead drops to seventh in the region.

The Central Region is made up of teams from the NSIC, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). The top eight teams in the final Central Region rankings advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament which takes place March 9-12. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC (Augustana), MIAA and GAC postseason tournaments, leaving the five remaining spots open for at-large bids.

The Vikings find out their NCAA tournament seed, opponent and location on Sunday, March 4 at 10 p.m. EST. on NCAA.com.

The NCAA Central Region Tournament is played at the Central Region's top-seeded home arena with the Elite Eight Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Championship games taking place at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
