SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana baseball team (4-0) hit the road again to take on Adams State (0-1) in Alamosa, Colo. on Feb. 10 and 11 for a two-game series.
The Vikings and Grizzlies will play on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) at the ASU Baseball Field and will wrap up the short series on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).
Augustana Notes
• Augustana enters the weekend 4-0 having swept Hawaii-Hilo on the road last weekend. The Vikings outscored the Vulcans 40-18
• Augustana season opening series sweep was the first such sweep for the Vikings since 2006. In 2006, the Vikings went to Goodwell, Okla. and took four from Oklahoma Panhandle State to open the season

Riley Johnson broke a pair of school records during the opening weekend. Johnson recorded six hits in the season opener to break the school record of five and stole four bases in the series finale to tie the school record
• The Vikings best start to a season happened in 1968 when Augustana won the first five games of the season
• Offensively Augustana had only four players start every game in the season opening season:
Riley Johnson,
Ryan Menssen,
Lucas Barry and
Sam Baier.
• 11 Vikings who either weren't on the team last season or sat out as a redshirt starting a game on the opening weekend (nine position players and two starting pitchers)

Adams State Notes
• Adams State plays in the RMAC. The RMAC is a nine-team conference consisting of teams from Colorado and New Mexico
• Last season the Grizzlies went 13-33 and were last in the RMAC with a record of 7-25
• As a team last season the Grizzlies hit .294 and averaged 5.48 runs per game. The Grizzlies had a team ERA of 8.15 and recorded 305 strikeouts in 2017
• Adams State is 0-1 to start 2018 with its lone game being a 7-4 loss to West Texas A&M
• Against West Texas A&M freshman Tyson Zanski led the Grizzlies going three-for four at the plate with two home runs and two RBI. Senior Dustin Kachel also was three-for-four at the plate with a double
• Sophomore Erik Hildebrandt is the lone returning hitter to hit over .300 for the Grizzlies last season, after graduating four of their top seniors from last year
• Hildebrandt hit .378 as a freshman in 37 games. Hildebrandt had 34 hits, five doubles, one triple, one home run and six RBI
• Junior Daniel Brennan is the lone returning starting pitcher for Adams State. Brennan went 1-7 last season with an ERA of 8.05 in 53.2 innings pitched with 48 strikeouts. Brennan made 13 appearances and 11 starts
Series History
This will be the first meeting between Augustana and Adams State.
Next Series
The Vikings will take on Morningside in their home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m. at Karras Park in a single, nine inning game.
