DES MOINES, Iowa - The Augustana track and field team had quite the weekend at the Drake Relays, especially its women's team. On Friday, the Viking women picked up two relay wins and on Saturday they added another.
The Vikings began Saturday with a win in the women's distance medley relay. The team of
Valerie (Moos) Gildemaster,
Cassidy Soli,
Carly Rahn and
Emily Tromp won with a time of 11:46.82. The men's distance medley relay team of
Austin Miller,
Ryan Stiles,
Zach Tuschen and
Wyatt McLeod finished in 10th with a time of 10:08.68.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Josh Barrows hit a provisional mark in a 17th place finish. Barrows time of 52.91 ranks 22nd in Division II. In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Gildemaster finished in 14th with a time of 1:01.97.
The Vikings also broke another school record on Saturday, this time in the men's shuttle hurdle relay. The team of
Paul Meloche,
Evan Ward,
Dylon Van't Hof and
Peter Schukking broke the school record with a time of 1:02.34 and finished in seventh.
To wrap up the day the Viking women's 4x100-meter relay team finished in sixth. The team of
Sara Heyn,
Alaina Klapperich,
Selin Dikmen and Calle DeWitt raced to a time of 47.55.
Next week the Vikings have their final regular season meet. Augustana will remain in Sioux Falls for the Howard Wood Relays at Howard Wood Field on May 4-5.
