INDIANAPOLIS -- The Augustana women's soccer team (12-2-1) comes in at No. 6 in the first Central Region rankings of 2019. The Vikings are one of five teams in the NSIC that made the initial rankings.

The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship provides a 56-team, single-elimination tournament.The Central Region will qualify seven of the 56 teams that make the NCAA tournament. The winners of the eight regions will square off, before they head to the final four, hosted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Highmark Stadium hosted by Slippery Rock University and SportsPITTSBURGH. 

The Vikings have already beaten UMary, 1-0, who checked in at No. 8 in the rankings. Augustana plays No. 2 ranked Concordia-St. Paul and No. 3 ranked Minnesota State this weekend. 

The Central Region is made up of 35 teams from the NSIC, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Great American Conference.
