Augustana Travels to Brookings for Final Time This Season

Vikings will compete in SDSU Last Chance Meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track and field teams will compete in their final regular season indoor meet of the year as they travel to Brookings, S.D. on Friday for the SDSU Last Chance Meet. Friday's meet presents an opportunity for individuals to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Meet in Pittsburg, Kan.

During last week's meet at the SDSU Indoor Classic, the Viking women took eighth place with 34 points, while the men placed 12th with 20.2 points. Several Viking athletes secured personal best times or season-best times.

For the Viking women, Callie DeWitt highlighted the weekend by placing in the 60m dash (2nd, 7.68 seconds), long jump (3rd, 5.37m), and 200m (5th, 25.32). DeWitt put up a NCAA DII provisional mark in the 60m dash prelims with a time of 7.63 seconds.

Carly Rahn set a personal best in the 800m, while placing sixth at a time of 2:12.83. The time is also a DII provisional qualifying mark. Mackenzie Kelly grabbed a personal best as well last weekend in the Mile, putting up a time of 5:05.45 in an 11th place finish.

The Viking men were led by Josh Barrows who took second place in the 800m at 1:52.14, an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Several individuals put up personal-best marks in an array of events, with Aaron Runge setting a personal best in the 5000m.

Paul Meloche provided a personal best in the 60m hurdles, while Noah Melton and Nick Reiffenberger in the 800m, in addition to Endre Wigaard and Skylar DeJong in the Mile.

Following Friday's meet, the Vikings will compete in the NSIC Championships next weekend on Friday and Saturday in Mankato, Minn.
