Augustana Ends Second Day in Third Place

Vikings have 269.5 points going into day three

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — With 269.5 points, the Augustana women's swim team stays in third place after day two of the NSIC Championships on Thursday at the Midco Aquatic Center.

Minnesota State leads after day two with 450 points, St. Cloud State sits in second place with 445 points, Augustana stays in third with 269.5 points and Sioux Falls and U-Mary switched spots to round out the top-five.

The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team started off the second day of finals with a fourth-place finish for a school record time of 1:35.86. The 'A' team consisted of Isabel Waite, Emma Miller, Kelsey Gilbert and Destini Oehlertz. The 'B' team was made up of Merriam Hagadorn, Jojo Lohner, Maggie Oberg and Kamryn Robarge. They placed 10th with a time of 1:38.64.

Up next was the 400-yard Individual Medley and three Vikings placed in the top-10. Starting with Gilbert who placed third with a time of 4:30.77, Taylor Beagle placed ninth with a time of 4:36.27 and Micah Hudlet finished just behind Beagle in 10th with a time of 4:36.92.

In the 100-yard Butterfly, sophomore Abigail Magee placed 10th with a time of 58.37. She improved her prelims time by 0.19 seconds.

In the 200-yard Freestyle junior, Oehlertz broke the school record with a time of 1:53.23 and tied for fourth place. She improved her prelims time by 0.41 seconds. Miller placed seventh with a time of 1:54.07, improving her time by 0.22 seconds from the prelims.

In the final event of the night, the Vikings 'A' 400-yard Medley Relay team had an entry time of 3:57.49 and improved that by 1.58 seconds to finish in seventh place with a school record time of 3:55.91. The 'A' team consisted of Lohner, Hudlet, Magee and Robarge. The 'B' team was comprised of Linzie Kreizel, Alysse Grohs, Hagadorn and Waite and finished in 11th with a time of 4:04.70.

Friday's trial sessions will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals set for 6 p.m. Friday will have the have the 500 freestyle, the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly and the 800 freestyle relay.
