Vikings Finish Day One of NSIC Championships

Women are in second with 39 points, men are in eighth with 16 points

MANKATO, MINN. --  The Augustana track and field teams wrapped up day one of the NSIC Championships at Myers Fieldhouse on the campus of Minnesota State. The Viking women are currently sitting in second place with 39 points after one day of competition, while the men are in eighth with 16 points.

The Viking women saw several individuals contribute to the team score while also moving a group of athletes advancing to finals in their respective events. Olivia Montez Brown continued her stellar season by placing first and receiving All-NSIC honors in the long jump at 5.73m (18' 9.75"), a distance good for a provisional qualifier and top 25 nationally.

The women's Distance Medley Relay of Carly Rahn, Sydney Mudgett, Kali Ryan, and Emily Tromp finished in first place to secure 10 points for the Vikings and All-NSIC honors with a time of 12:14.24. Lily Noble took home third place in the pole vault with a new personal best of 3.45m (11' 3.75").

The Vikings also saw four women score points in the 3000m while also securing season bests. Mackenzie Kelly put up a personal best of 9:51.65  as the highest placing Viking in third place with All-NSIC honors.

The Augustana women also had several individuals advance to finals from Friday's competition which are listed below.

Olivia Montez Brown - 60m hurdles (8.69 seconds, provisional qualifier)
Callie DeWitt - 60m dash (7.59 seconds, personal best, provisional qualifier)
Avery Selberg - 1000m (2:59.40)
Emily Tromp - 1000m (2:59.87)
Meagan Schenk - 1000m (2:59.92, personal best)
Haylee Waterfall - 1000m (3:00.13, personal best)

On the men's side, Tyl Woelber took the highest place for the day, grabbing third place in the high jump by clearing 2.00m (6' 6.75") and achieving All-NSIC honors. Aaron Runge put up a new personal best in a fifth place finish in the 3000m with a time of 8:27.19.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Nathan Schroeder, Alex Woods, Josh Barrows, and Endre Wigaard took fifth place at 10:24.11. Matt Pohlmann grabbed a new personal best and school record in the pole vault while taking seventh at 4.63m (15' 2.25").
