Taylor Beagle Finishes Up DII Swim Championships

The sophomore earns two All-America honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Sophomore Taylor Beagle finished up her season at the Division II Swim and Dive Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday. Beagle competed in the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle over the course of the four-day event. 

With a pair of top-16 finishes, Beagle earns two DII All-America honors. They're the first honors in program history for Augustana.

The Lead, S.D. native started her weekend in Indiana with a great showing in the 1000 freestyle prelims. Beagle finished first in her heat with a career-best time of 10:12.29. With her time Beagle finished in 15th place in the nation in the 1000 freestyle after finals concluded Wednesday night.

In the morning session on Friday, Beagle placed 37th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.81. Coming into the event, Beagle was listed as having the 45th best time according to the psych sheet.

Finishing up her terrific sophomore season, the Northern Sun 1650 freestyle champion, swam in the 1650 freestyle at the national championships on Saturday. She placed fourth in her heat with a time of 17:01.39. She was able to drop 1.07 second from her entry time of 17:02.46 in which she set a meet record at the NSIC Swim and Dive Championships last month in Sioux Falls, S.D.

After finals on Saturday, Beagle's time of 17:01.39 placed 12th in the nation in the 1650 freestyle. The sophomore earned two All-American honorable mentions in the 1000 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle. Beagle is the first All-American in program history.
