SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track and field teams travel south this weekend to compete in the Sioux City Relays that were initially supposed to have been a two-day event, but were reduced to one day due to weather.
The Vikings last competed at the Dordt Invitational, where the men wrapped up the meet with six top-three finishes, while the women put up 17 top-threes.
The Augustana women had five winners of their events.
Callie DeWitt grabbed a victory in the 100m,
Selin Dikmen won the 200m final,
Carly Rahn put up a winning time in the 800m final, and
Nicolette Schmidt won the 1500m. In the 4x100m, Augustana's team of
Olivia Montez Brown,
Alaina Klapperich, Dikmen, and DeWitt took first place.
On the men's side, three Augustana athletes won their events. Senior
Josh Barrows won the 800m while freshman
Matt Steiger took first in the 1500m. Senior
Paul Meloche continued his success from the indoor season in the hurdles, winning the 110m hurdles.
Following the Sioux City Relays, the Vikings are scheduled to compete in a mid-week meet at the Northwestern Red Raider Invite in Orange City, Iowa on April 17-18.
