SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track and field teams will not have to travel far for competition this week as they will compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays starting on Friday and continuing through Saturday to wrap up the regular season.

The Howard Wood Dakota Relays have history dating back to 1923 and more than 3,000 middle school, high school, college and university student athletes will be competing this season.

During last week's competition, Olivia Montez Brown led the way for the Viking women, who won the heptathlon at the NSIC Multis Championship for the second time in her career. Lily Noble broke a school record and posted a personal best in the pole vault at 3.55m (11' 7.75") in a third-place finish at the Kip Janvrin Open.

The 4x800m Relay team of Kali Ryan, Avery Selberg, Emily Tromp, and Carly Rahn finished first at the Drake Relays, while the Distance Medley Relay of Kaitlyn Mulder (400m), Kali Ryan (800m), Avery Selberg (1200m), and Mackenzie Kelly (1600m) took first place as well. The wins marked the second straight season that Augustana swept the college division distance relays.

The Augustana men were led during the week by Jesus Urtusuastegui, who finished the 3000m steeplechase with a third place finish and fifth best time in the country at the Drake Relays. Nathan Schroeder also ran a personal best in the event with the 14th best time in Division II.

Aaron Runge put up a personal best in the 10k while freshman Matt Steiger put up a personal best in the 5k. Paul Meloche also ran a new personal best in the 110m hurdles.

Tyl Woelber finished the decathlon at the NSIC Multis Championship with a runner-up finish. The Pipestone, Minn. native was the only freshman in the top five of the event.

Following the weekend, the Vikings will compete in the NSIC Championships in Duluth, Minn. on May 10-11.
