BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The Augustana track and field team swept the board on Field Athlete of the Year. The Vikings
Olivia Montez Brown was named the Northern Sun Conference (NSIC) Women's Field Athlete of the Year while
Tyl Woelber was named the NSIC Men's Field Athlete and Newcomer of the Year.
Scott Tanis was also named the NSIC Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Montez Brown followed up her indoor season national championship in the pentathlon with a first-place finish in the heptathlon with a point total of 4,913. The win marks the second time that the junior has won an NSIC Outdoor Championship in the event, with the last being won in 2017.
Woelber finished the decathlon with a runner-up finish at 6,694 points at the NSIC Multi Championships. The Pipestone, Minn. native was the only freshman in the top five of the event. At the NSIC Outdoor Championships in Duluth, Minn., Woelber claimed first place in the Javelin with a throw of 57.79m.
Tanis coached distance runners that scored 69 of the teams 117 points at the NSIC Championships. This outdoor season he has also coach three All-NSIC performers along with having four events where Viking athletes rank in the top-10 in the nation in their event.Â
In addition to the NSIC awards being released, the USTFCCCA released their all-region honorees and 15 Vikings (9 men, 6 women) in total earned a spot. The list of the honorees and the events are below.
