KINGSVILLE, Texas -- The Augustana track and field team finished up their season at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas on Saturday night. All five individuals that qualified for the championships improved off their ranking coming into the championships with four Vikings earning All-American status.

Day 3 Recap

Josh Barrows came into the meet ranked 24th in the men's 400m hurdles and would finish sixth in the prelims to secure a spot on Saturday. The senior would place seventh in the 400m hurdles finals with a time of 55.84 and earn First Team All-American honors in the final race of his collegiate career.

After earning her first All-American honors yesterday, Mackenzie Kelly will look to add to her success in the 5000m run on Saturday. After fighting for position for half the race, Kelly found her stride and would move up six spots after the first 3400m. She would finish in 11th place in her final collegiate race with a time of 17:41.99 which earned her Second-Team All-American honors.

Day 2 Recap

The second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships finished up on Friday and two Vikings earned All-Americans Status with their efforts. Olivia Montez Brown would also finish up her successful outdoor season with a second-place finish in the heptathlon.

Montez Brown opened up day two with a mark of 18'10" in the long jump and a throw of 36.87m in the javelin which was good enough for 607 points. The mark was a personal best in the javelin and put her in second place going into the final event.

In the 800m, the Chester, Cheshire, England native, ran a time of 2:26.06 which brought her final total to 5,260 points and setting a new school record for total points in the heptathlon.

Later in the day, Kelly and Jesus Urtusuastegui set their sights on the 3000m steeplechase. Urtusuastegui would place seventh with a time of 9:00.14 which gave him his first All-American honors on the track.

Kelly after seeing her teammate place seventh would place seventh as well with a time of 10:50.19 in which she earned All-American honors for the first time.

Weekend Notes

• All five Vikings exceeded their ranking coming into the championships. Montez Brown came in ranked ninth and finished second in the heptathlon, Kelly came in 12th in the steeplechase and finished seventh and was ranked 20th in the 5k and finished in 11th place
• On the men's side, Urtusuastegui came in 11th in the steeplechase and finished seventh, Nathan Schroeder clocked a 9:26.26 and closed his Augustana track and field career with a 15th place finish after coming in ranked 17th and Barrows came in ranked 24th in the 400 hurdles and finished seventh
• The seniors of Kelly, Barrows and Schroeder earned five All-American honors, nine NSIC titles, 19 All-Region honors, 28 All-NSIC honors and 41 All-Academic awards (All-American/Region/NSIC) during their career as a Viking
