SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After more than a month between events, the Augustana track and field teams resume their indoor seasons Saturday at the SDSU Quadrangular in Brookings, South Dakota. Events are slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the last event starting at 4:05 p.m.

The Event
After a forecasted winter storm hitting the area on Friday, the Vikings changed course and instead of going to Minnesota State, they will participate in the SDSU Quadrangular. Joining the Vikings and the Jackrabbits are Sioux Falls and South Dakota.

Last Time Out
The Vikings had an impressive start to their indoor season back on Dec. 7 at the SDSU Holiday Open in Brookings, South Dakota. Sophomore Tyl Woelber broke the Augustana record in the high jump with a jump of 2.11m. He won the event as part of the heptathlon. Senior Aaron Runge, who competed at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Missouri, broke the Augustana record in the 5K with a time of 14:18.76. Runge finished in fourth place with his time being and NCAA provisional qualifier.

Freshman Elizabeth Schaefer earned a fifth-place finish with 3,505 points in her collegiate debut in the pentathlon. Her pentathlon was highlighted by a second-place finish in the high jump (1.66m) and a third-place finish in the long jump (5.30m). In addition to Schaefer, junior Sydney Mudgett took first place in the 300m with a time of 41:40. Sophomore Nicolette Schmidt also competed with the aforementioned Runge at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic and ran an NCAA provisional qualifying, and personal best, time of 17:20.5. Schmidt earned third-place in the event.

Quotable
"Watching how hard the team has worked during the summer and fall, it's impossible not to be excited for track season," junior sprinter Ryan Sully said. "We have big things planned for the conference championships, and we can't wait to finally compete every week."
