Women’s Hoops Look to Continue Home Win Streak

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team has just four regular-season home games remaining with two of them this weekend. The Vikings welcome Minot State and UMary to the Sanford Pentagon.
 
The Games
Friday's contest is a matchup with Minot State at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game against UMary is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader, coupled with the men's game at 5:30 p.m. is the Viking Kid's Club Day. Also, a lucky fan will have a chance to win five grand by making a half-court shot.
 
The Beavers
The Minot State women's basketball team owns a 4-14 overall record while sitting 1-13 in NSIC action. The lone NSIC victory came last weekend in a 72-65 win at Bemidji State. Mariah Payne is the lone Beaver in double-figure scoring at 18.5 points per game, a mark that ranks third in the NSIC. Minot State tallies 62.1 points per game while giving up 70.7 points to its opponents.
 
The Series: Augustana leads 10-1
 
The Marauders
The UMary women's team owns a 14-9 overall record while holding an 8-6 mark in NSIC action. The Marauders ended a brief three-game skid with a weekend sweep last weekend at Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. Cassie Askvig is the NSIC's leading scorer with an average of 21.5 points per outing. She is joined by Lauren Rotunda and Lexie Schneider at 12.2 and 10.7 points per game, respectively. UMary tallies 74 points per game while holding teams to 64.9 points.
 
The Series: Augustana leads 14-4
 
The Vikings
Augustana enters with an 11-7 overall record and is 7-7 in the NSIC. The Vikings split last weekend between Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State. At CSP, Augie turned a halftime deficit into a 13-point victory while dropping a one-point contest at Minnesota State. Redshirt freshman Aislinn Duffy had arguably the best weekend of her young career, averaging 11.5 points and seven rebounds over the two games.
 
Senior Abby Hora is the Vikings' active leading scorer at 12.1 points per game while freshman Lauren Sees tallies 10.6 points per game. Senior Hana Beyer is the team's leading rebounder at 5.7 rebounds per game.
 
One Last Thing
Hannah Mitby has come on strong over the past seven games, averaging a team-best 14.4 points on 41.4 percent shooting. The junior has started six of those games and the Vikings have gone 5-2 over the stretch. Over the first 11 games of the season, Mitby averaged 4.9 points per contest, a mark that ranked sixth on the team.
