Vikings Track and Field Back in Familiar Territory Friday Night

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track and field teams are splitting up for competition once again tomorrow night. Some of the athletes will be heading up north to compete in the SDSU Last Chance in Brookings, South Dakota, while another group of athletes will head west to compete in the Maverick Invitational in Mankato, Minnesota. Currently, the women are ranked second in the central region while the men are ranked ninth. 

The Event
The SDSU Last Chance is set for Friday with field events beginning at 3:30 p.m. and running events at 4 p.m. South Dakota State will host the event inside of the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The full schedule of events can be found here

The Maverick Invitational is also set for Friday with field events starting at 3 p.m. and running events at 4 p.m. Minnesota State will host the event inside of the Myers Field House. The full schedule of events can be found here.

Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Vikings collected six first-place finishes in Brookings and Mankato with four by the women's team and two by the men's team.

"I think it's cool to see how the team has progressed this season," senior Alex Woods said. "It's great to see how things are setting up for both squads to have a great conference meet. With it only being a week away I think everyone is really excited."

Athlete to Watch
Senior Austin Miller already owns the second best time in the conference in the 800m and has an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event as well (1:53.29) and will be competing in the event once more this weekend.
