Augustana Track and Field Complete Indoor Regular-Season

MANKATO, Minn. -- The Augustana track and field teams competed in Mankato, Minnesota, at the Maverick Invitational and in Brookings, South Dakota, at the SDSU Last Chance Friday in its final tune up before the NSIC Championships. Overall, the women took home first place in two events while the men took four first-place finishes.

Callie DeWitt ran a season best time of 7.65 in the 60 meter dash to take home Augustana's lone first-place finisher in Brookings. 

Women at the Maverick Invitational
Augustana dominated the mile race in Mankato Friday night, taking the top-two spots, seven of the top-10 spots and nine of the top-14 spots. Patty Jo English captured first-place honors in the event with a personal best time of 4:57.94. English was followed by Nicolette Schmidt who finished in second with a personal best time of 4:58.63. 

Rounding out the top-10 for the Vikings was Emily Tromp in fifth (5:03.09), Callin Naddy in sixth with a personal best time of 5:03.80, Rebekah Rairdon in seventh with a personal best time of 5:04.55, Mia Salas in eighth with a personal best time of 5:05.35 and Rachel Rairdon in ninth with a personal best time of 5:06.54. Claire Boersma and Cami Streff took 12th and 14th place with times of 5:15.55 and 5:23.29 (personal best), respectively. 

The Viking women also took home second, third and fourth place in the 600-meter race with Kaitlyn Mulder claiming second in a personal best time of 1:38.64, Kali Ryan placing third with a time of 1:39.09 and Maria Hoogendorn placing fourth with a personal best time of 1:39.31

Other top performances included Selin Dikmen's fifth-place finish in the 200m (26.09) and fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07), Meagan Schenk's third-place finish in the 1,000m (3:02.91), Haylee Waterfall's fourth-place finish in the 1,000m (3:04.03) and Alana Sesow's fifth-place finish in the 1,000m (3:04.43).

Men at the SDSU Last Chance
Two Viking men tied for first place in the high jump in Brookings Friday night. Isaiah Morin-Baxter and Eli Anderson both jumped a height of 1.90m (6-2.75) in the event. 

Other top performances from Brookings included Riley Crawford's fourth-place finish in the 60 meter dash (7.18) and his fourth place finish in the 200m (23.19) and Matt Pohlmann's second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.50m (14-9).

Men at the Maverick Invitational
In Mankato, the men took home first-place finishes in the 600m, 800m and 1,000m.

Noah Melton claimed first place for the Vikings in the 600m with a season best time of 1:22.72. 

In the 800m, Augustana captured two of the top three spots led by Austin Miller who took first-place with a time of 1:54.02. Bonheur Mvuyekure took third-place with a time of 1:54.55.

In the 1,000m, the Vikings took two of the top-five spots as Alec Kray took home first-place honors with a time of 2:34.22 and Endre Wigaard took fifth-place with a time of 2:41.95. 

Other top performances from Mankato include Alex Woods' third-place finish in the 400m with a time of 50.44 and Jed Dooyema's fifth place finish in the 400m with a time of 51.15.

Up Next
Both squads are back in Mankato next weekend for the NSIC Championships Friday and Saturday.
