Augustana Baseball Preseason Ranked No. 13 in NCBWA Poll

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The 2020 Augustana baseball team is ranked No. 13 in the NCBWA Division II Preseason Poll.

The 2019 Augustana baseball team followed up its 2018 National Championship season with a 43-16 campaign that featured an NSIC regular season championship in addition to an NSIC tournament championship. After winning the NSIC tournament, the Vikings went 3-0 in the NCAA Central Regional, before falling to Central Missouri in the Super Regional. It was the second season in a row that Augustana won the NSIC Tournament and the second season in which they went undefeated in the regional round.

The 2020 Vikings recently returned to Sioux Falls after a successful trip to the Dominican Republic, where Augustana played in five unofficial games, winning all of them.

In addition to being nationally-ranked, the Vikings were also selected second in the NCBWA Central Region Preseason Poll garnering 72 points and one first place vote. In the NSIC, Augustana was picked to win the conference with 195 points and 13 first place votes.

The Vikings begin the regular season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against No. 21 Arkansas Monticello. The games are slated to start at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
