SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana's all-time leader in saves,
Adam Diedrich, has signed a contract with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association, becoming the 39th student-athlete under AU head coach
Tim Huber to go onto a professional career.
"I'm really glad Adam decided to sign and give pro baseball a shot," Huber said. "He certainly has proven he is capable and earned the opportunity. He has grinded it out over 6 college seasons and didn't let injuries get in his way. To think back to where he was as a skinny 17-year old, when we first saw him throw, to where he got to is pretty amazing."
A native of Brillion, Wisconsin, Diedrich found a home out of the bullpen and appeared in 73 games, the most in program history. His 2023 season was one for the record books. His 14 saves that season led the country. He held a 2.25 ERA in 32 innings while striking out 35 and was a Second-Team All-American, All-NSIC First Team Member and First Team All-Region Honoree while helping lead the Vikings to the DII College World Series.
He had a three-save week in the 2026 season, including his program-record 25th career save against Sioux Falls on April 26. He finished the season with eight saves, 10th in the country, while allowing a .237 opponent's batting average and striking out 25 in 25 and two-third innings. Diedrich finished his career with three NSIC Championships and played for four NCAA Tournaments, including a pair of Super Regionals and the 2023 College World Series while striking out 90 in 86 1/3 innings.
